Whitney Janel Byers

Whitney Janel Byers, age 37, of Spindale, NC was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2025. It was by her belief in, and acceptance of, His gracious gift of salvation, that Whitney stepped into her new heavenly home and found the peace and love that she had forever sought among us.

Whitney was an amazing woman, with a beautiful heart demonstrated by the boundless generosity and ferocious devotion that only immense love could give. She was a friend to be treasured and a gift to all who knew her.

Whitney was a devoted mother to her three children – daughter Jasmine and sons, Jaylan and Dwight. She was fiercely devoted to them, loving them “like a fat kid loves chocolate cake.”

Whitney was preceded in death by her grandparents Wayne and Linda Goode, Virginia Walker, and Calvin C. Byers, along with her uncle Thomas “Eddie” Byers.

She is survived by her mother, Dawna Wilson (Rusty); father, Calvin “Buzzie” Byers, and “bonus dad” Mark Edwards. Her sister and brothers are Cristina Green (Brandon), Anthony Edwards (Anna), Trevor Wilson (Brianna) and Tyler Wilson. She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews Cody Green (Morgan), Seth Green, Sydney Green, Dallas Green, and Phoenix Green, who were loved as if they were her own.

We will all miss her, family and friends alike, but we can all have the blessed assurance that Whitney will be joyfully waiting at Heaven’s Gate to greet us and to share the delightful news of how her new life with Jesus has been since we last saw her.

The celebration of Whitney’s life will be on Saturday, March 22nd at Element Church (1071 South Broadway Street, Forest City). Visitation begins at 12:00 pm with the service to follow at 1:00 pm. There will be lunch available afterwards at the Hope Hub adjacent to the church. EVERYONE is welcome.
