Wanda Cogdell Siegel, age 68, of Forest City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Wanda was born Sunday, August 25, 1957 in Rutherford County to the late Odell Joseph Cogdell and Mary Lizzie Street Cogdell. She worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years and then for Fairhaven Home of Bostic after becoming a registered nurse. Wanda had a passion for floral arrangements and loved decorating the church and her home with beautifully arranged wreaths. She was a longtime member of Fork Creek Baptist Church where she served faithfully as the Teen Class Sunday School teacher. Wanda was dedicated to her Lord, her family and to her church family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Siegel; son, Brian O’Neal Ledford; sister, Geraldine Cogdell and brothers, Ronald Cogdell.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Shannon Dunn (Jason) of Forest City; son, Peter Franklin Ledford of Durham, NC; brothers, Billy Cogdell (Tammy) of Bostic and Ernest Cogdell (Betty) of Gilkey; sisters, Christine Flynn of Union Mills, Brenda Goode of Forest City and Peggy Shepardson (Rod) of Union Mills. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Allred, Nathaniel Hamrick (Alyssa), Trinity Phillips, Christopher Stewart and ten great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 23rd at Fork Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Cogdell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
