Sue Cooper

Sue Cooper, age 94, of Forest City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the Fair Haven Home in Forest City.

Sue was born Saturday, December 26, 1931 in Rutherford County to the late Hoyle Dobbins and Ollie Davis Dobbins. She worked for Alexander Cleaners for fourteen years and then in the cafeteria for Alexander School and Forest Hunt Elementary for over fifteen years. Sue was a past member of the Alexander Baptist Church where she served in several capacities and is a present member of Forest Lake Baptist Church. Sue loved her family dearly and was known as the “caregiver” of the family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Charlie Cooper; son, Dennis Cooper; daughter, Glenda Cooper; five brothers and five sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved daughter, Darlene Hooper (Stanley) of Forest City; grandchildren, Mitch Hooper of Charlotte, Mark Hooper of Rockingham, Jobe Hooper (Cathy) of Spindale, Matt Hooper (Angie) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Sam Hooper (Tia) of Forest City, Ryan Copper (Gloria) of Charlotte, Kelly Edney of Forest City, Robby Edney (Beth) of Ellenboro; great grandchildren, Hannah, Josh, Reese, Riley, Dottie, Jamison and a great-great grandchild, Maverick Williams.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Steve Smith and Reverend Wayne Toney officiating. Interment will follow in Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
