Sheila Bailey

Sheila McGill Bailey, age 60, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Sheila was born Wednesday, February 23, 1965 in Sevier County, Tennessee to the late Alvin McGill, Sr. and Barbara Arwood McGill. She worked for Kemmet Electronics for many years and as a Detention Officer for Rutherford County and Cleveland County. Sheila was very skilled in drawing and photography and enjoyed sharing her talent with others. Her greatest joy and life’s passion was spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was a member of State Line Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixteen years, David Bailey and two brothers, Randy and Rodney McGill.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Anthony Bailey (Kristan) of Mooresboro; daughter, Amanda Norton (Nathan) of Ellenboro; brother, Alvin McGill, Jr. (Michele) of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Keeleigh Bailey, Kennedy Bailey, Kolton Bailey, Landen Norton, Lily Norton and Lelan Norton; niece, Katie McGill; nephews, Alex McGill, Aric McGill and a great nephew, Kellin McGill.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 31st at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at State Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
