Sandy Greene McBrayer, age 80, of Mooresboro, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
Sandy was born Thursday, June 7, 1945 in Greer, SC to the late Austin Greene and Elizabeth Mae White Greene. She was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1963. Sandy was a dedicated homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Sandy enjoyed working on crafts and cooking for others. For many years, she would make pies and dressing for the Grace of God Rescue Mission’s annual Thanksgiving dinner and would cook each year for the handicap prom. Sandy was a faithful member of Prospect Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of sixty years, Don McBrayer; son, Brad McBrayer; sisters, Donnis Baynard and Nancy Hoyle.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Donna Lavon McBrayer, Brian Keith McBrayer (Tonya) and Lisa Scruggs (Roman) all of Mooresboro; daughter-in-law, Amanda McBrayer of Mooresboro; grandchildren, Austin Scruggs (Eliza), Blake Scruggs (Kaylea), Seth McBrayer (Jordan), Ashley Henson (Curtis), Jerin McBrayer (Carolina), Sadie Roach (Sheldon), Maysan McBrayer and a sister-in-law, Melanie Greene of Forest City.
The graveside service will be held at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, February 17th at the Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Merle Lehman, Reverend Brian Cole, Reverend Curtis Henson and Reverend Tim Elmore officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
Memorial donations are requested to the DCi Dialysis Center, 108 Creekside Drive, Shelby, NC 28152.
