Russell Pye

Pye, age 69, of Cliffside, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at the Belaire Health Care Center in Gastonia, NC.

Russell was born Wednesday, May 1, 1957 in Rutherford County to the late John Edward Pye and Ruth Holland Pye. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1975. Russell worked twenty-two years for PPG Industries and retired from Freightliner. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Russell loved his family immensely and was known for his sense of humor. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John Thomas Pye and Terry Lee Pye.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of twenty-three years, Diane Pye; sons, Matthew Pye and Brad Pye (Harley) all of Forest City; daughter, Jessica Pye of Forest City; stepchildren, James Splawn (Joeli) of Cliffside, John Splawn (Allison) of Cliffside and Joseph Splawn (Brittney) of Parker, Colorado; grandchildren, Zach Splawn (Juan), Liz Splawn, Adam Splawn (Ashlyn), McKiah Splawn, Callan Splawn, Ezra Splawn and Mila Hamrick.

To honor his wishes, no formal services will be conducted.
