Rick King

Rick King, age 70, of Columbus, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at his home.

Rick was born December 22, 1954 in Hendersonville, North Carolina to the late Joseph King and Leona Sizemore King. He worked in home construction for most of his life and owned and operated a dry wall installation business. He was an avid bass fisherman. Rick was known for his fondness of “Good Southern Cooking” and was a connoisseur of delicious food. Rick’s greatest passion was his family and being able to spend time with each of them. He was a man of genuine faith and a Baptist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Ethan Calton and brothers, Daniel, Larry and Leroy.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of twenty years, Gwynne King; children, Matthew King (Terra) of Morganton, Heather King (Von) of Forest City, Christopher King (Louise) of Hendersonville, NC; stepson, Josh Calton (Desiree) of Ridgeville, SC; sister, Diane Bentley of Hendersonville; brother, Luther King (Betty) of Ruth and eighteen grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 23rd at Adaville Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Pate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
