Ray Greene

Ray Greene, age 78, of Mooresboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at his home.

Ray was born Thursday, August 22, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Clyde A. Greene and Nannie Scoggins Greene. He worked twenty years as the printing press supervisor at the Daily Courier and for seveal years as an insurance agent for Liberty Life. He was an active and faithful member of the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City where he served on the Church Board and as a Trustee. Ray was a racing enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Kyle Busch #18. He enjoyed all types of car racing which included watching local dirt track racing at Harris Speedway. He will forever be known as a dedicated Christian, husband, father and Paw Paw.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ngar, Barbara Reid and a brother, Tony Greene.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-seven years, Bobbie Greene; children, Scott Mathis (Robin) of Forest City, Anita Yelton (Eric) of Forest City, Brad Mathis (Julia) of Caroleen; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 20th at the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City with Reverend Eric Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
