Phillip Melton

Phillip Melton, age 65, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Phillip was born Wednesday, August 24, 1960 in Rutherford County to the late Bobby Melton and Willie Faye Hutchins Melton. He was veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Phillip worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years. He was a past member of Corinth Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors. Phillip was an avid gardener and loved tinkering with lawn mowers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brandy Melton and a brother, Travis Melton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dillon Melton of Forest City, Travis Melton (Lindsey) of Boiling Springs, SC, Danielle Melton of Cowpens, SC, Michelle Melton of Asheville and Andrew Melton (Katy) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Gerald Melton of Ellenboro and sister, Dianna Melton (Tony) of Forest City; his longtime friend, Doris Melton of Idaho; grandchildren, Jayden Tipton, Elijah Henson, Lydia Melton, Kinslee Melton and Bodhi Melton.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 29th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bryan Melton officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
