Patricia Ann Mathis

Patricia Ann Mathis, age 73, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Patricia was born Friday, March 27, 1953 in Gaston County, NC to the late Fred Lineberger and Ruby Stroupe Lineberger. She was a graduate of Dallas High School, class of 1971. Patricia worked many years in the textile industry. She enjoyed needlework such as sewing, knitting and crocheting. Patricia especially enjoyed bird watching and was a western and drama series enthusiast. She loved her family dearly and was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lineberger.

Those left to honor her legacy include her husband of fifty-three years, Ernest Mathis; son, Charlie Mathis (Bobbie) of Union Mills; daughters, Kristi Cooper and Tracie Mathis of Forest City; brother, Scott Lineberger of Dallas, NC; sister, Linda Anderson of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Alex Davidson, Tamara Mathis, Brittany Auton, Renee Mathis, Cod Cooper, Summer Smith, Ayla Smith, Jarred Smith and great grandson, Connor Auton.

The family will have a celebration of Patricia’s life on a later date.
