Opal Lewis Beaver, age 86, of Forest City and resident of White Oak Manor died Monday 18, 2015 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Born February 5, 1929 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late John Edwards and Agnes Lewis Edwards. Opal worked for Doncaster-Tanner for over thirty years and enjoyed traveling, crocheting and cooking for her family. She will always be known as a sweet, caring and kind hearted lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of forty-two years, J.D. Beaver; one brother, Ted Lewis and son-in-law, Gerard Harmeyer.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Taub and husband, Steve of Forest City, Lyn Harmeyer of Rutherfordton, Cheryl Hutchins and husband, Steve of Sandy Mush and Bonita Butler and husband, Wayne of Shelby. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at three o'clock on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with the eulogy being given by her daughter, Lyn Harmeyer. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
