Nancy June Deck Jones, age 78, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Nancy was born Monday, April 7, 1947, in Belleville, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Millard and Ruth Deck. She worked as the director of the Iowa Coalition for Domestic Violence Women’s Shelter for thirteen years and later worked as the manager of Transit Damaged Freight until she retired. Nancy loved thrift shopping, watching daytime television, especially “Lets Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right.” She loved her family more than anything and always had an unconditional love for people, no matter what the circumstances. Her kind spirit and tender heart led her to become a very giving person.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Jones, daughter, Denise Howell; sister, Nathalie Elizabeth; grandchildren, Angel Overhulser; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Murphy and Kymberly Howell; and nephews, Colby Deck, Michael Schearer, and Eric Deck.
Those left to treasure her memories include her children, Glen Overhulser, Michael Overhulser, Dianna Moore (Tom), all of Forest City, David Clark (Brandy), of Green Valley, Arizona, and Christian Jay Jones, of Iowa; siblings, Ernie Vaughn, Johnny Vaughn (Joyce), all of Keokuk, Iowa, Erika Baker, of Vermont, Millard Deck, of Keokuk, Iowa, Eric Deck (Yvonne), of Minnesota, and Christine Penrose (Dean Burrell), of Bostic; Grandchildren, Luke Murphy (Shawna), Hunter Clark, Halle Clark, Priscilla Hicks, Morgan Jones, Kenny Howell, Kolten Howell, Keaten Howell, Keagen Howell, Katie Howell and Karlie Howell, Nancy Overhulser, Michael Overhulser; Great-grandchildren, Titus Murphy, Coraline Howell, Kayne Howell, Kannon Howell, Kray Howell and Daniel Wrieden; and a multitude of nieces and nephews and a host of cousins which includes two very special cousins, Tina and Glenn Lawson.
The family and friends will gather from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Tuesday, September 2nd, at Harrelson Funeral Home where Nancy will lie-in-state. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 9, at Frazee Cemetery in Wayland, MO.
Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services in Forest City has been entrusted with the local arrangements. Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa is also serving the family.
