Myrle Gossett

Myrle Gossett, age 87, of Chesnee, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

Myrle was born Friday, March 25, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Clyde Radford and Dorothy Williams Radford. She worked in the bakery for twenty-five years at Turners Cafeteria in Chesnee. She also owned and operated Myrle’s Bakery for several years. Myrle was of the Baptist faith. Her life’s passion was making candy, pies and baking cakes for all to enjoy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Gossett; sisters, Peggy Scruggs, Patsy Martin; brothers, Wayne, Wade and Donald Radford and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Gossett.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of almost seventy years, Howard Gossett; sons, Jerry Gossett (Anne) of Rutherfordton and Terry Gossett of Mill Spring, NC; daughter, Vickie Bradley (Bruce) of Chesnee; brother, Ronald Radford (Debbie) of Chesnee; grandchildren, Jeremy Gossett of Inman, SC, Tina Williams (Michael) of Rutherfordton, Chad Gossett of Mill Spring, Tonya Odel (John) of Mill Spring, Kelly Johnson (Janice) of Spartanburg, Ashley Martin (Ricky) of Chesnee; thirteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Clay Collins and Reverend Sean McKaig officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care and Myrle’s special cousins for their care, Linda McDowell, Wanda Compton, Michael and Mary Gossett, and Lisa Gossett.
