Mona Callahan Ruppe

Mona Callahan Ruppe, age 75, of Cliffside, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Mona was born Thursday, November 2, 1950 in Greenville County, SC to the late James Loren Callahan and Carrie Lee Williams Callahan. She was a graduate of Shelby High School, class of 1969. Mona worked for the Forest City Health and Rehab Center as a CNA and later helped with the activities for a total of thirty-five years. She was a longtime and faithful member of Cliffside Baptist Church where she devotedly taught Sunday School. Mona enjoyed working on crafts and was a regular volunteer for many years at the local Relay for Life events. She was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

Those left to honor her legacy include her loving husband of forty-five years, Donnie Ruppe; sons, Shannon Dale Toney (Shaunita Miller Toney) of Ellenboro and Brian Keith Lee (Dekota Marie Smith) of Henrietta; sister, Margaret Tenon (Tom) of Oak Island, NC; grandchildren, Macie Marie Lee, Alison Blake Lee, Magnolia Raye Lee, Brittany Nicole Roberts, Rachel Leighann Hudson (Jamie), Erika Renee Brooks (Karah) and twelve great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 18th at Cliffside Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Elgin officiating. Interment will follow at Cliffside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
