Minnie Yvonne Greene

Minnie Yvonne Greene, age 82, of Forest City, died Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the Oak Grove Healthcare Center in Rutherfordton.

Yvonne was born on Friday, June 19, 1942 in Gaffney, SC to the late Robert Kanipe and Ola Mae Huckabee Kanipe. She worked for many years in the textile industry and retired from Cone Mill-Cliffside Plant. Yvonne was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Forest City and especially loved taking care of her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Sonny Greene; brothers, Bruce Kanipe and Homer Kanipe, and sister, Betty Ann Biggerstaff.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Larry Greene (Martha) of Union Mills, Melissa Wise (Harold) of Chesnee, Teresa Oliver (Ray) of Cliffside, and Sherri Prescott (Alan) of Forest City; brothers, Roger Kanipe of Shelby, Kenneth Kanipe (Becky) of Forest City, Donnie Kanipe (Ahn) of Forest City, and Randy Kanipe (Wanda) of Caroleen; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 9th at The Bridge located at 212 N. Alabama Avenue in Chesnee, SC with Reverend Buddy Robbins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
