Mike Bores, age 80, of Forest City, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at his home.
Mike was born Monday, February 18, 1946 in Rochelle, Illinois to the late Melvin Bores and Robbie Clark Bores. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mike worked for Thompson’s Contractors as a dump truck driver for twenty years. He faithfully served as a member of the Rutherford County Traffic Control for over forty years. Mike enjoyed sitting at Denny’s and visiting with friends while drinking coffee. He also enjoyed solving and working on puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Those left to honor his legacy include his children, Tony Bores (Jen) of Rockford, Illinois, Michelle Gonzales of Rockford, IL, Dawn Tim of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Michael Nolan (Michelle) of Forest City; brother, Melvin Bores, Jr. of Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of close friends.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 19th at the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, 201 Philadelphia Church Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040 with Mr. Donnie Wells officiating. A reception/memorial gathering will follow at Crowe Park after the service.
