Mary Dodd

Mary Hazel Dodd, age 86, of Union Mills, NC passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence.

Mary was born June 16, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late J.W. Jaynes and Meldona Guffey Jaynes. She was of the Baptist Faith and loved taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Jerry, David, Howard, Larry and Charles Jaynes and two sisters, Virginia Metcalf and Vickie Cox.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol Herring of Union Mills and two sons, Richard Duncan (Gloria) of Bill’s Creek and Charles “Bud” Duncan (Glenda) of Union Mills; five siblings, Ruby Winstead, Roy Jaynes, Bill Jaynes, Beverly Walker and Teresa Jaynes. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Lankford officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
