Margaret “Net” Arwood, age 68, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at her home.
Net was born Tuesday, February 11, 1958 in Buncombe County to the late Shadrack Norton and Starlene Gosnell Norton. She was a dedicated homemaker whose life was lived to take care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and everything she did came from a loving heart. Net attended Drury Dobbins Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She had a “Kind and Giving Heart” which led her to reach out to help others. Net love everybody, but her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty years, Bobby Joe Arwood; sons, Travis Arwood (Michelle) of Cocke County, Tennessee and Todd Arwood (Jennifer) of Mooresboro; brothers, Larry Norton (Catherine) of Camden, SC, Phillip Norton of Rutherfordton, Bruce Gosnell (Lori) of Lawndale, NC; sister, Rita Faye Taylor (Ray) of Camden, NC; grandchildren, Keirstain Brown (Nicholas), Kristopher Arwood (Danielle), Katelyn Arwood, Marissa Edwards (Sully), Savannah Arwood; great grandchildren, Shelby Wilkie, Maleighna Brown, Ellie Brown, Joe Brown, Zaylee Arwood, Baylee Arwood, Maddox Gilmer and Mallory Gilmer.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 26th at the Tabernacle of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Roberts and Reverend Paul Norton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the Church Tabernacle.
