Lorene "Pete" Scoggins

Lorene “Pete” Scoggins, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Pete was born Friday, September 20, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Vallie Murray and Blanche Hastings Murray. She was a graduate of Chase High School and worked in the spinning room for Stonecutter Mill for many years. Pete was a Word Search and Puzzle enthusiast. She was well known, respected and loved among her neighbors and friends. Pete’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved son, Ernest Murray (Leah) of Caroleen; granddaughters, Tileah Murray (James), Danielle Murray and Adestiny Murray (Ethan); great grandchildren, Persayus Honeycutt, Ryah Murray-Roberson and Caylor Roberson; many loving brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces which includes special nieces, Amy Murray (Chris), Missy Morrison (Joey) and special nephew, Vallie Murray (Christel).

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be conducted.
