Lois J. Elmore

Lois J. Elmore, age 99, of Forest City, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Lois was born on Wednesday, March 18, 1925 in Rutherford County, to the late Archie Bynum Jackson and Nola Ree White Jackson. She was a graduate of Cliffside High School, class of 1941. Lois worked for several years as a cashier for Smith’s Drug, she worked for twenty-three years at Sears as a retail clerk and was a Walmart greeter for sixteen years. She was of the Baptist faith and accepted the Lord and was baptized at Cliffside Baptist Church. Lois loved cooking for her family and friends, dancing, and singing hymns. She enjoyed listening to many types of music and loved to read. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Henry H. Elmore; two brothers, Glenn Jackson and Samuel Jackson; and a nephew, Glenn Forest Jackson, Jr. 

Survivors are her two sons, Reverend Dr. Michael Hiram Elmore (Peggy), of Baton Rouge, LA, and Jerry Francis Elmore (Kathy), of Cliffside; five grandchildren, Michele Elmore Travers (Warren), Dr. Jonathan Elmore (Ruth), Reverend Tim Elmore (Michele), Megan Elmore, and Nic Elmore; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on February 1st at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with her grandson, Reverend Tim Elmore officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
