Larry "Bud" Splawn

Larry “Bud” Splawn, age 82, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Larry was born Sunday, October 10, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late See Splawn and Ethel Hutchins Splawn. He worked in textiles most of his life having worked at the Cliffside Plant and the Haynes Plant. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Larry enjoyed working on puzzles, fishing and selling at flea markets. He was of the Baptist faith. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Inez Toney, Marvin Splawn, Betty Luckadoo, Raymond Splawn and Eddie Splawn.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Lois Taylor Splawn; daughter, Tonya Charles (Scott) of Forest City; son, Rick Splawn of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Brittney Jennings (Josh), Kalla Charles (Austin Bates) and Austin Charles (Casandra); great grandchildren, Kaylee, Nate, Raegan, Leo, Maci, Lilliana and Asher.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 9th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cliffside Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
