Kathy Dianne Greene Chyz

Kathy Dianne Greene Chyz, age 74, of Forest City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at her home.

Kathy faced ill health for many years, a journey she navigated with remarkable faith, strength and grace. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a woman of great faith and had a strong passion to pass down her faith in God to her family.

As a devoted servant of the Lord, following His lead and His voice in furthering the kingdom, Kathy mentored and discipled many women. Some of whom became life-long friends.

Others always came first: a gifted Sunday school teacher, pantry founder, generous gift giver, foster parent and Hospice volunteer.

Kathy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will be cherished as we remember the incredible woman who made our lives brighter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Samuel Horn and her first husband, Roy Greene.

Survivors include her husband, Frank and her son, Michael Greene (Kim); grandchildren, Kelsea Hendrix (Josh), Makayla Yelton (Eli), Skylar Greene and Adam Greene; great grandchildren, Eliza Yelton, Paxton Hendrix and Salah May Hendrix; brothers, Bobby Horn, Tommy Horn (Jan); sisters, Linda Clark, Teena Ervin, Angela Jackson and Priscilla Parker (Jeff).

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, July 27th at Harrelson Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28th at Glenwood Baptist Church of Bostic with Reverend Joe Ervin, Dr. Jeff Parker and Reverend Owen Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, NC.
