Jean W. Ross

Jean W. Ross, age 81, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Jean was born Sunday, August 8, 1943 in Burke County, NC to the late Leona Wortman Greene. She worked as a nurses aide at Rutherford Hospital for twelve years and then as a private caregiver. She had a compassionate heart that reached out to those in need. Jean was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking and was faithful to read her Bible. She loved animals, especially red birds and was an avid teddy bear collector. Her passion in life was her family. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren is what she lived for.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, John Whisenant; husband, Calvin D. Ross; son, Danny Clark; daughter, Valerie Rogers and brother, John Junior Whisenant.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Travis Clark (Lisa Toney) of Rutherfordton; daughter, Sharon Wilson of Pinehurst, NC; special friend and companion of twenty-six years, B.W. Johnson of Spindale; sister, Deann Jo Norville of Connelly Springs, NC; grandchildren, Clint Rogers (Lauren), Heather Fox (Jesse), Leah Gardner, Levi Clark; great grandchildren, Ellie Rogers, Jacob Fox, Blake Fox and Jaxson Fox.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6th at Harrelson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 8th at the Cameron Community Cemetery in Cameron, NC with her son, Travis Clark, officiating.
