Jackie Mode Huffman

Jackie Mode Huffman, age 80, of Ellenboro, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Jackie was born Thursday, May 30, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Amos Mode and Ovelia Johnson Mode. She was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1964 and also a graduate of Kings College in Charlotte. She worked many years as an administrative assistant for Stonecutter Mill and later as a Medical Office Assistant for various Doctor’s offices. Jackie was a beloved and faithful member of Alexander United Methodist Church where she was active in several ministries of the church. She was an avid shopper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-nine years, Tony Huffman and sisters, Judy Peek and Barbara Craig.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jody Splawn (Deanne) of Rutherfordton; sister, Brenda Hutchens of Rutherfordton; brother, John Mode (Christy) of Forest City, grandchildren, Chase Splawn, Josh Angulo, Arieanna Lattin, Justin Angulo; great grandchildren, Aniyah Rencher; stepmother, Virginia Mode of Forest City. She is also survived by two special great nieces, Hannah Grant and Savannah Grant.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 16th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Mauney and Reverend Chris Glawson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
