Irene Phillips

Irene H. Phillips, age 90, of Forest City, NC, died, Friday, November 19, 2010 at Hospice House.
Irene was born on November 2, 1920 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Edgar Harrill and Mattie Brandle Harrill. She was a graduate of Harris High School and a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the Bible School Director. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James S. Phillips one grandson, Phillip Hughes and by two brothers.
Survivors include her four children, Edward Phillips and wife, Betty, of Oak Ridge, TN, Pat Phillips, Rita Buckner and husband, Bobby, Sandra Carver and husband, Hubert, all of Forest City; two sisters, Bea Proctor of Forest City and Marjorie Watts of Hollis. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Debbie Buchanan, Michael Buckner, Robin Hughes, Tim Hughes, Stephen Tucker, Sheli Jenkins and eight great-grandchildren.
