Hazel Smith

Hazel Ruth Nix Smith, age 91, of Candor, NC formerly of Forest City, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Sandy Ridge Memory Care.
Born January 25, 1925 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late William Andrew Nix and Cora Ethel Conner Nix. Hazel worked for Burlington Mills for several years and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlene Robertson and two brothers, J.C. and Paul Nix.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Thompson and husband, Michael of Mt. Gilead, NC and Phyllis Massey and husband, Stan of Greensboro, NC; two sons, Roger L. Smith and wife, Patti of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee and David Smith and wife, Rhonda of Lynchburg, VA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Ezell officiating.
