George "Junebug" Ross Jr.

George "Junebug" Lawrence Ross Jr., age 84, of Forest City, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 10, 2025.

George was born on Friday, July 19, 1940 in Rutherford County, to the late George Lawrence Ross Sr., and Ruth Crowder Ross. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, class of 1958, and a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. George retired from Fiber Industries (Celanese) and enjoyed racing Motorcycles and Cars. He was able to fix anything that was broken and loved being outdoors. George will be remembered as a “good man” by his friends and family for years to come.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Ross; his son, Jeff Ross; and four siblings, James Ross, Jack Ross, Shirley Gettys, and Sue Burnett.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Watson (Kevin), of Forest City; grandchildren, Kevin Christopher Watson (Heather), Cody Watson (Chelsea), Casey Watson (Whitley), and Brandon Ross; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Pat Ware, Brenda Rowe, Glen Ross, and Lois Rabb.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 15th at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Terry White officiating. Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
