Fred L. Turner, age 75, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Fred was born Thursday, January 24, 1946 in Rockford, Illinois to the late Fredrick Lee Turner, Sr. and Elizabeth Helen Vernick Turner. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. Fred was a truck driver for fifty years having worked for J & J Cartage and most recently for Quality Drive Away. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spindale. Fred loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mischele Patrick and brother, Harry Turner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty years, Judy Turner; daughter, Elizabeth Elefante of Dixon, IL; two sons, Fred Turner (Charisma) and Jack Turner (Jennifer) all of Dixon, IL; sisters, Marilyn Rohm of Spindale and Pat Wagner (Dennis) of Palm Beach, FL; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Vance Touchton officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
