Freddie Walker, age 73, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Freddie was born on Friday, June 13, 1952, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1970 and later attended Cleveland Technical College. Freddie attended Father’s Vineyard in Spindale. He retired from P.P.G. Industries in 2014 after forty-three years of dedicated service. Freddie served his nation proudly in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, from 1972 until 1974. An avid sports fan, he cheered for the Atlanta Braves and the N.C. State Wolfpack, but his greatest joy came from supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-four years, Kim Hopper Walker; his mother, Eloise Splawn Gunter; and two siblings, Nancy Elam and Carl “Billy” Walker.

Those left to treasure the memories of Freddie’s life include his children, Tabitha Bailey (Royce), of Mooresboro, Leslie Francis (T.J.), of Ellenboro, Kevin Walker (Kasey), of Dover, Delaware, and Pamela Henson (Travis), of Ellenboro; eight beloved grandchildren, Emma Ensley (Nate), Hayden Francis, Preston Henson, Kaitlyn Francis, Kendall Walker, Kellen Henson, Kora Walker, and Kara Walker; and an expected great-granddaughter, Mazie Lynn Ensley.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 18th in the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Justin Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17th at Harrelson Funeral Home.
