Floyd Elmer Tate Iii

Floyd Elmer Tate III, age 57, of McSwain Road, Forest City, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Floyd was born January 6, 1963 in Rutherford County to Floyd Elmer Tate, Jr. and Joyce Toney Tate of Ellenboro. He was a retired over the road truck driver for many years and an avid NASCAR fan. Floyd loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything else in the world.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd Tate Sr. and Lucky Ledbetter Tate and Linzie Toney and Irene Toney Segers.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Dalton Tate; son, Floyd “TJ” Tate IV (Jessica) of Spindale; stepson, Wesley Murray of Sunshine; a brother, Mark Tate (Kathy) and two sisters, Anna Maria Coffey (Joe) and Christina Holland all Forest City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Alexander United Methodist Church.
