Elbert Pinkney 'Pig' Lane, age 91, of Henrietta, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Autumn Care of Forest City.
A native of Rutherford County he was born February 5, 1918 to the late Charlie and Charity Dixon Lane. Elbert loved camping, fishing, dancing and playing baseball. He played centerfield for the Henrietta Mills where he worked for 45 years as a humidity controller. He was a member of First Baptist of Henrietta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Muriel Ward Lane; his son Robert Lane; three brothers James Lane, Walter Lane, and J.C. Lane; and one sister Memir Waters.
He is survived by five sons Reid Lane and wife Dorothy of Rutherfordton, James Lane and wife Brenda G. of Forest City, Larry Lane and wife Ramona of Forest City, Ronnie Lane and wife Brenda K. of Forest City, and Randall Lane and wife Anne of Sonoma, CA; one daughter Nancy Baker and husband Neil of The Villages, FL; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
