Doug Rogers

Doug Rogers, age 67, of Cherryville, NC peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior while being surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born Saturday, April 27, 1957 in Gaston County to the late Thomas E. Rogers and Eretta Bowen Rogers. He was a graduate of North Gaston High School, class of 1975. Doug was the owner and operator of Rogers Construction Company for many years and worked as a construction foreman for DPR Construction Company for several years. God blessed Doug with multiple talents besides carpentry, which included being an incredible musician and singer. He was one of the founding members of the musical group “Acoustic Syndicate” and most recently the “Fairly Dangerous Old Men.” He was also a gifted artist who enjoyed creating beauty with his hands. Doug was a current member of the Element Church. His Godly influence touched many lives both here and around the world as he boldly shared Christ with others. Doug’s transparent and authentic testimony will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Rogers; grandchildren, Justin Millwood and Baby Buitron and sister, Bobbie Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol P. Rogers; daughters, Shelby Millwood (Greg) of Cliffside and Emily Baynard (Brian) of Forest City; grandchildren, Meredith Parker (Alex), Hannah Buitron (Caleb), Jonah Millwood (Anna), Katelyn Morales (David), Maggie Baynard, Alexis Vinson (Tristan), Averey Baynard and Corbin Baynard; great grandchildren, Zoey Parker, Everlee Parker, Tobias Parker, Hadie Rose Buitron, Jacob Buitron, Hazel Grace Morales and Sophia Vinson; mother-in-law, Helen Price of Forest City and his traveling buddies, Mary and Alex Skipper of Forest City.

A celebration of Doug’s life will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 29th at the family farm, 405 Doc Wehunt Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
