Forest City

Debra Lou Fredley, age 72, of Forest City passed away Monday, March 9, 2026 at Oak Grove Healthcare.

Debra was born Tuesday, July 7, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Homer Leroy Furhman and Joyce Batten of Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout her life, Debra was known for her warm heart, caring nature, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. She spent many years in the childcare profession, a career that perfectly reflected her nurturing spirit and deep love for children. Debra had a special way of connecting with young people and was often seen as a guiding and comforting presence in their lives.

Family was always at the center of Debra’s world. She enjoyed working and spending time with her family, and the moments she shared with them meant everything to her. Whether it was gathering together for visits, sharing stories and laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Debra treasured every opportunity to be with those she loved.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held an especially special place in her heart. To them, she was lovingly known as “Nana.” She took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother, and the love she had for her family shined through in everything she did. Her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit created countless memories that her family will carry with them always.

Debra also enjoyed music and found great joy in listening to the songs of Kenny Rogers. His music often filled the background of her days and brought her comfort and happiness. Debra was a faithful Christian. She enjoyed going to church with family and friends.

Those who knew Debra will remember her as a devoted mother, proud Nana, caring sister, and a friend who always had a kind word to share. Her life was defined by love for her family, compassion for children, and the quiet strength she showed throughout the years. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In addition to her mother Joyce Batten, those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Troy Watson (Stephanie) of Surprise, AZ, Frank Watson of Phoenix, AZ and Bryon Watson (Carrie) of Bedford, IN; a daughter, Chelsie Mash (Allen) of Forest City; a sister, Donna Garber of Bedford, IN; and a brother, Homer Fuhrman of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no formal services conducted.
