Catherine "Kasey" Ann Wood

Catherine “Kasey” Wood was a ray of sunshine that entered this earth on October 5, 1959, and departed on March 13, 2025.

Kasey was born in Sacramento, California and lived in many places in her early years as an Airforce brat, including Germany, New Jersey, Kansas, Colorado and California. She graduated from San Gorgonio High School in San Bernadino, California in 1978. During her high school years, she enjoyed being a part of the show choir and playing the accordion. In 1981, she married Stephen “Woody” Wood. They were married for 44 years before her passing.

Anyone that knew Kasey would say that she was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. She always had a smile on her beautiful face. Some of her favorite activities were needlepoint, crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo and watching NASCAR.

Her family appreciated the way that she always had a special knack at finding the perfect gift, tailored to an individual. Her care and attention she always put into every celebration was unsurpassed.

Those left to cherish Kasey memory are her husband, Stephen Wood; her mother, Joan Helfer; brothers, Bryan Coogan and Greg Coogan; sisters, Mary Coogan-Howard and Sarah Coogan-Bowman; Eight nephews, Zach, Christopher, Jonathan, Joey, Nick, Timothy (T.J.) Coogan and Benjamin and Blake Howard.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Coogan and brother, Patrick Coogan.

A celebration of life will be held in Rutherfordton, NC on April 16, 2025 at the family residence.
