Boyce Wade Abernathy, age 66, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at his home.
Boyce was born Friday, February 7, 1958 in Rutherford County to the late Chivous Wade Abernathy and Lucille Harrill Abernathy. He was a graduate of R-S Central, class of 1976 and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from NC State University in 1982. Boyce worked as a sales representative for Bartlett Milling Company and later worked for Spindale Farm and Garden and Horns Farm and Garden for many years. He was the past president of the Rutherford County Beekeepers Association and enjoyed taking care of his bees, hunting and fishing. Boyce was a member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church where he was active in the Missions to Honduras ministry team.
Boyce was survived by a host of cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 8th at Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Carnell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Boyce’s body will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 9th at Harrelson Funeral Home and a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, February 10th.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Honduras Mission Fund, c/o Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church, 2004 Chase High Road, Forest City, NC 28043. Boyce had a passion for missions. Over the years it brought him great joy by helping others. He traveled to Honduras on multiple trips for many years. The donations will help others to experience the same as Boyce.
