Alpha Hawkins

Alpha Mae Hawkins, age 97, formerly of Rutherford County, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
Alpha was born on November 20, 1913 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Ben Tillman Lowery and Effie Putman Lowery. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Henrietta First Baptist Church until she could no longer live independently.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Joe D. Hawkins and four brothers, Hoyle Lowery, Furman Lowery, Gene Lowery and Hollis Lowery.
Survivors include two sons, Garth Hawkins and wife, Barbara, of Kings Mountain and Leon Hawkins and wife, Carolyn, of Garden City, SC; one sister, Mary Humphries of Sandy Mush; three grandsons, Merv Hawkins, Joe Hawkins and wife, Susan, Mark Hawkins and wife, LeAnn and six great-grandchildren.
